Is Kirk Kidding?

Is the University of Florida really the best football team in the nation? I mean it is really fun watching the Gators play this year. They average 44.2 points per game now I am not going to lie that is a lot of points per game. Their 49 to 10 win over Georgia was very impressive, they ran up the score against what was then the number 4th ranked LSU Tigers 51 to 21. So, they are doing really good this year, but are they really the best team in the nation? They do have one upset this year when they lost in a fluke to Ole Miss 31 to 30 and Mississippi is still an unranked team.
Let’s talk about the 6th Trojans of USC. In the past 10 games they have only allowed 77 points to be scored on them. Granted that the Pac-10 isn’t the SEC this year, but never the less the Trojans have been putting up some pretty impressive stats this year. The Trojans have had one upset as well as Florida has. Earlier this season the Oregon State Beavers put the hurt down on USC 27 to 21.
It’s Big-12 time Texas Longhorns have a great team this year and just like the Gators and the Trojans the Longhorns only suffer from one loss. The only difference is that Texas one loss came from a top ten ranked opponent who sit still ranked in the Top Ten. The University of Oklahoma averages 51.4 points per game and 47.2 in the first half. So, it is apparent to me that the Sooners win the game in the first half and then just manage the clock for the remaining last two quarters. But, I am sad to say that OU has the same story they also only have one loss which came from a highly ranked team who is still highly ranked. Texas Tech is undefeated still, but we’ll see what happens after this week of college football. The point of my blog is to simply state that it is really impossible to name who is the best college football team right now.

Florida is the best team in the nation. They're solid in all aspects of their game, Defense- Offense -Special Teams.

I like the new blog, maybe you could add a little bit of Wayne's awesome world to your footballness. I'd like to see some pictures of you and what your up to (other than football)... but I do enjoy reading your thoughts.

Zach and Joe I thank you for your comments, but I’ve got say that I think you must be kidding! I am not arguing that Florida is not a great team. I am arguing that no one can determine who the best team is at this point. A while back a question was brought up to Mack Brown about how the Big-12 has great offence, but they are weak when it comes to playing defense. Mack’s response was that our defense is good it’s just that we are playing against some really great offences. We’ll its Saturday afternoon so I bid ye adieu and wish you a happy College Game Day.

In response to the Emro’s comment, I would like to start off by saying thankyou for following my blog. Aside from what I think of college football I do have thoughts of other things and I do have other things going on in my life. My problem is that no one wants to read about Wayne Bass the man. People come to my blog spot to find out the real deal about college football, and if I start blogging about other aspects of my life then my ratings will drop, I’ll lose my sponsors, and then future posterity won’t be able to go to college. Is that what you want? Your future nieces and nephews not being able to go to college? So, PLEASE, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF MANKIND! PLEASE MAKE YOUR POST COLLEGE FOOTBALL REALATED!

Wayne,
I agree with you about Florida. They are a great team, but not the best in the nation. As I am currently living an hour away from the home of Alabama football I hear a lot about them, but I am not convinced that they can win in the national championship game. In my opinion the big 12 is the best conference in the nation this year and we will have to see what happens tonight to see who is the best team in the big 12.

PS- it is good to see that you are still keeping it real

PSS- Zach never did know anything about football. That is why he could never beat me in NCAA football.
